I first found my interest in product design while in high school, and ever since I have been devoting my education and work to this field. I have always been a creative person, and I am fascinated by the many opportunities for designing products that can improve peoples lives. However, in my career in recent years I have been yearning to return to school and continue onto more advanced courses related to product and industrial design. This is what leads me to your masters program. By studying in the UK, I hope to broaden my artistic vision while honing my design skills, learning in a multicultural environment and soaking up the inspiration from the diverse people in your school. With my previous training and work experience, I believe that I will be a good fit for your program.

In 2011, I earned my bachelors degree in Creative Product Design from Goodwell University. As a student, I received a broad education in product design, and I found myself especially interested in courses concerning design thinking, such as mind maps, SWOT analysis, and cross-coordinate analysis. Through the courses I took, I learned to observe problems and analyze them carefully before working to solve them in the process of creating new products. Outside of class, I joined the English club, where I worked to improve my English skills, and I had a minor in the Create Leadership Program, where I enhanced my leadership abilities.

After graduating from university, I joined the graphic design company Krell Design, where I worked to improve my visual and graphic design skills. I was involved with commercial packaging as well as corporate image planning, and I enjoyed thinking outside the box and working with my colleagues there on several design projects. After one year, I decided to return to the industrial design field, and I began working at Anglawn Garden Products as an Industrial Designer. There, I needed to come up with a comprehensive plan taking into account everything including the overall design, the features, and the structure. I also regularly helped the clients and the factory to reach a consensus. We needed to discuss every detail of the designs to assess their feasibility and solve production problems, and this was a very instructive experience for me, as I learned about the practical challenges involved in developing and producing a product.

In my future work, I expect to attach more importance to the problems and challenges of mass production and production cost. In order to fully prepare for this career, I am committed to earning a masters degree, acquiring more advanced knowledge and specialized skills in product design. I believe that your masters program will give me a new outlook as well as a better understanding of different design methods, which will help me to re-examine my designs through the eyes of people from different cultures. After earning my masters degree, I hope to remain in the UK for a period and work in industrial design, taking advantage of the opportunity to learn in a foreign working environment. Eventually, I plan to return to my native country and resume my career, albeit with greatly enhanced skills and prospects.

Statement of Purpose “ Hotel Management

,

The services industry occupies an increasingly important position in the modern global economy. As a native of a small Asian country, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of focusing not only on customers in Asia, but also on the international community as a whole. With this in mind, I hope to study in the USA in order to improve my language abilities and become more competitive in the workplace of the future. I have decided to specialize in hotel management, and because the USA has a reputable business sector and world-renowned education system, it is the ideal setting in which to build my international experience and prepare for the challenges of my future career.

My family operates a bed and breakfast, and through my association with this industry, I have come to understand the importance of developing a successful brand. It is crucial to have a brand that can represent a companys distinct style and portray the companys most positive characteristics. In addition, I have witnessed firsthand how efficient HR management can enhance the quality of service and the overall success of a business. Modern businesses attach great importance to services, and many countries are currently utilizing SGS services or ISO certification to enhance their competitiveness in the market. I hope to earn such certification so that I can rise to the top in my future career and achieve the goals that I have set for myself.

In the university, I served as Vice President of the Student Union, responsible for implementing the plans and decisions of the President. This role required excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. When we arranged our annual Japan Week, I was in charge of planning this project, including assigning tasks to members, giving presentations and overseeing the planning and strategies. This experience was instructive and rewarding, and it gave me a better understanding of my own strengths and shortcomings. For example, in a leadership role, there are many details that require extensive training and practice, and I am eager to pursue a more in-depth understanding of such processes.

With any company, it is vitally important to create a brand and to suffuse it with meaning and value. For example, brands such as Dior and Prada have worked hard to become virtually synonymous with luxury. For my own future, it is important to learn skills and techniques that I could apply to hotel management, so that I can eventually return and work to develop my familys company into a successful company with expanding horizons. It has long been a dream of mine to study abroad, and I now feel both confident and excited that this dream is within my grasp. The masters program in hotel management at your school is ideal for fulfilling my dreams and goals, both personal and professional.

After completing my masters degree, I hope to obtain practical work experience in the USA or somewhere in North America, in order to continue learning and honing my abilities. Eventually, I plan to return to my country and help my familys business expand. By studying in your school, I hope to equip myself with greater business acumen while also learning some international etiquette and acquiring a greater understanding of international customs. This will give me a unique advantage in my future career.

Statement of Purpose “ Music

,

My lifes passion has been music ever since I was old enough to sing. As I have grown and matured, I have been on a constant quest to explore new musical vistas and hone my own technical and composition skills. Now, having earned a degree in music and acquired teaching experience, I desire to challenge myself further by pursuing additional studies overseas. The music education in my native country is somewhat limited and not nearly as open or developed as it is in the USA, which is why I am attracted to the enriching, inspiring environment of your masters program. In addition, I look forward to experiencing a new culture and interacting with diverse groups of people, which will broaden both my personal and musical horizons considerably.

As a young child, I often played the piano and sang songs with my mother. After learning the basics of piano, I soon began playing pop music by ear, and I gradually began adding my own flair to these songs and exploring my creative side. I was fortunate to have a mother who supported my passion for music, and she got me a composition teacher, which led to me focusing on composition in junior and senior high school. During this period, I mainly played classical music, which gave me a good foundation for my university-level studies. The numerous undergraduate classes I took on harmony, theory, music analysis, counterpoint, and composition opened my eyes to the vast possibilities I could continue to explore in the musical world. I especially enjoyed the regular one-on-one classes in the university, in which I got advice from instructors while discussing pieces from contemporary composers.

Many of the most instructive experiences have come outside of the classroom. For instance, in high school I participated in the Music Club as the lead singer and arranger, and I joined the Musicians Association in the university, holding instructional camps for elementary school students. Throughout these years, I also performed solos and orchestral pieces at music festivals and concerts, playing various instruments and gaining invaluable experience. Meanwhile, I have also regularly taught private students in everything from composition and theory to ear training and technical skills. Such experiences have taught me to devise different teaching methods as appropriate for students of varying levels. For instance, I may let the students listen to J.S. Bachs Chorale or Stravinskys Soldiers Tale, then give them a chance to practice conducting in small groups with classmates. This has shown me firsthand the value of teaching, which makes me yearn for more teaching experiences in my future career.

My musical experiences have molded me into a multi-talented musician with teaching talents and a keen understanding of my own strengths and interests. This is why I feel well prepared to enter your graduate program of music. If accepted, I will devote my efforts to enriching my knowledge of music and composition, and I hope to focus on the area of contemporary music. I understand that studying at the graduate level overseas will present me with certain challenges, but based on my past accomplishments and struggles, I know that I have what it takes to overcome these and excel. After completing my studies, I plan to return to my country and seek a teaching position, with the goal of nurturing the next generation of musicians and inspiring others as my teachers inspired me.

[SAMPLE SOP] All About the Common App

Applying for college can be an incredibly stressful time for students and parents alike. The Common Application (or Common App as its commonly known) helps to simplify and streamline the process.

Similar to the UCAS process in the UK, the Common Application makes it possible for students to apply to several schools using a single application. Although you dont need to use the Common App”as you can also apply directly to a school using their website or paper application”the Common App makes it much easier to apply to multiple schools at once.

The Common App is accepted by nearly 900 colleges and universities, most of which are in the USA. The website functionality was updated in July of 2019, and it is now an excellent place to begin searching around and making necessary preparations.

Here well give a brief explanation of the key points about the Common App, along with a few tips to get you on your way.

First, go to commonapp.org and simply look around. You can search for colleges or other information, and you can begin getting a feel for how it works. The new application season opens on August 1st of each year, but you can create an account any time you like.

To use the Common App, you will need to follow these steps:

Students are advised to start their applications on August 1st before their senior year.

The Common App is free to use, though some schools may charge their own application fees, which you will have to pay when submitting those applications.

To begin an application, go to commonapp.org and click the Apply Now button. For the application, you will need standard CV/resume information (academic history, work history, extracurriculars, awards, etc.), and some schools will require letters of recommendation and transcripts.

The Common App also has seven essay prompts that you may need to submit with applications. Some schools require one of these essays, whereas others dont (some schools will have essay requirements of their own). Still, its a good idea to have a good essay ready to go, just in time you need it. We have much more information on the essay prompts in our blog post: All About the Common App Essay Prompts

,

Need help writing a compelling essay? Contact our SOP Writing Services!

There is also now a Common App mobile app (the Common App-App, as it were), which has the incredibly useful feature of keeping track of deadlines for different colleges. We highly recommend that you download and utilize this apps features. As you move forward with applications, the number of details, deadlines, and responsibilities can start to spiral out of control.

Maybe you have a special ability to keep track of multiple dates and times and deadlines and remind yourself at just the right time. If you dont, the mobile app can serve as a second brain, allowing you to keep everything straight and stay on track.

In truth, the Common App is relatively standard and self-explanatory, as far as college applications go. The most important thing to remember is that procrastination will make this process much, much more stressful. Its important to get started as early as possible (August 1st, if you can), so that you have as much time to work out any problems that come up.

The essays and letters of recommendation are perhaps the most time-consuming aspect of the Common App, so its good to get started on these first.

Be sure to pay attention to the particulars of each universitys admissions process. Some will want different essays or letters of recommendation, and some will charge fees while others are free. If you do have questions, you can contact the universitys admissions department.

Statement of Purpose “ Management

,

In the age of globalization, it is crucial to have a broad and refined international outlook. The United Kingdom boasts an excellent cultural atmosphere and highly developed commercial sector, as well as sophistication in the humanities and areas of scientific and technological advancement. For these reasons, I hope to acquire management knowledge in the UK and learn from reputable professors with outstanding research facilities. In such a setting, I will be constantly exposed to skills and ideas that will enable me to develop into a management professional with virtually unlimited potential.

I was inspired to pursue a career in management from a young age, witnessing the business activities of my father. He is an entrepreneur in the electronics industry who is very business-minded and dedicated to his work. As a child, I began to absorb many ideas and concepts related to business and management. After school, I often read books and periodicals such as Business Week and Forbes, and it was clear even at that young age that I would work in business in the future. My decision to pursue a masters degree is due to the fact that I recognize that my father is limited by his qualifications; he only earned a high school degree, relying on his own diligence and perseverance to succeed. I hope to be able to assist him and his company in the near future, and the professional management skills I learn in your institution will allow me to achieve this goal.

Recently, I earned my Bachelors degree in Medical Sociology from Good University, where I attended many management-related courses, including Computer Science and Information Management, Introduction to Management, International Relations, and Mass Communication. During my four years of training, I had a positive attitude and developed good relationships with both classmates and teachers. Perhaps most importantly, during my time in the university I cultivated the patience necessary to deal with people in need. For instance, in the course Social Casework, I was involved in many cases which required considerable talking and communication skills. Because of this, I grew patient and tolerant in demanding and frustrating situations. Apart from working to help people in need, we also had opportunities for self-reflection and growth, such as when we had disagreements with those with whom we lived. In these situations, it was important that I have patience and communicate clearly to mediate and resolve conflicts. My work has provided me with valuable knowledge and experience that will be of great use in my future management-related work, where such communication skills are vital to success.

In addition to my experience in the university, I further developed my skills as an Intern at GoodHealth General Hospital, where I counseled patients, planned educational promotional activities, and engaged in administrative work. I then worked in the Department of Social Service at Wellness Memorial Hospital, where I was involved with community health promotion as well as planning, evaluating, and counseling. These were incredibly valuable opportunities to learn about hospital management and obtain experience and knowledge that can not be learned through books and classroom study alone.

Finally, I hope that in the near future, with the guidance of the experienced and learned professors in your institute, I will have thoroughly cultivated my independent thinking and research capabilities. I eventually plan to work as a professional manager in an international context, and I am convinced that by studying alongside the dedicated professionals and students in your school, I will be able to engage in enlightening research and acquire a more profound academic foundation.

Statement of Purpose “ Economics

,

I am applying to your MSc Economics program for fall 20XX intake. With my background of academic and professional experiences, I am confident that I have what it takes to stand out and excel in your program.

My interest in economics can be traced back to the influence of my grandfather, who has owned a shop since the 1940s. As a child, I often visited him and enjoyed helping in his shop. I saw how he decided what products to stock, how he satisfied customers, and how he negotiated prices to remain competitive. When studying economics in school, I was able to relate the concepts and theories I learned to their practical, real-life implications in my grandfathers shop. As I ventured further into this field, I grew interested in how these concepts apply not only to small or large firms but also to entire nations and the global economy. Later, majoring in Economics at Goodwell University, I grew interested in how these concepts apply not only to small or large firms, but also to entire nations and the global economy.

Upon graduating from the university, I joined a transport organization, where I was able to apply what I had learned as an undergraduate. As a Trainer in the Shipping Division, I undertook various cost control measures to improve productivity and ensured that the safety guidelines were met. In the process, I got hands-on experience and learned about how a large-scale firm such as this manages its economic affairs. This has been a very instructive experience for me, as I have learned to adapt to a professional environment and have seen that, through hard work, I am capable of achieving any goal that I set for myself.

In my personal as well as professional affairs, I am driven by a belief in the importance of generosity and giving back to ones community. I believe that the true meaning of life lies in giving happiness to others while following your own ambitions at the same time. In keeping with this spirit, I have recently begun devoting my free time to volunteering in the National Association of the Deaf, where I tutor students and work to raise awareness and funds. This experience has also influenced my career goals, as I hope to venture into teaching and have a positive impact on young minds. I am convinced that the subject of economics is relevant to virtually every aspect of peoples lives; this is evidenced by the work of Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank, who has proven that economists have the power to affect meaningful change in their communities. I therefore view a profession in economics as a very meaningful and inspiring career.

Although the education I have received thus far has been top notch, I am determined to study abroad for my masters degree, for a number of reasons. The UK has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in terms of its advanced academic programs, especially in economics, and it is an important leader in the global economy. It Is vital that I gain international experience and familiarize myself with different cultures at this stage in my career, and the diverse environment of your school is therefore ideal for me. Perhaps most importantly, I know that I need to challenge myself if I am to continue progressing and reach my full potential in this field. I am therefore committed to joining your challenging and renowned program, putting forth all of my effort to not only receive the best education possible but also contribute to your dynamic and diverse academic environment.

Statement of Purpose “ MBA

,

Studying for an MBA requires a certain determination and strength of character. In recent years, the business world has become rapidly integrated across once restricting borders, and anyone with high goals in the business world must have an international perspective and be aware of the realities of different international arenas. I am unique, and uniquely fortunate, to have a diverse background both academically and professionally which has exposed me to different continents, peoples, cultures, and languages. As a native of Asia, I am familiar with the increasingly important markets of this region, and as such I am thoroughly prepared for the demands and challenges presented by undertaking study in the MBA program at your institution.

From a young age, I set goals beyond those of my peers. I decided to pursue a Bachelors degree in International Hotel Management, but in recognition of the limitation of programs in this field in my native country, I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree in Europe. The international hotel management course I joined was run by Goodwell University in the UK, and due to the experience of the instructors and the overall sophistication of the program, I received an incredibly valuable learning experience, beyond that which I could have received elsewhere. My undergraduate coursework at Goodwell University focused on management marketing, accounting, and various aspects of tourism. I received broad business-based education while immersing myself in European culture and language on a daily basis. As a result, I am confident in my ability to adapt to your environment and join your MBA program.

After graduation from Goodwell University, I returned to my native country, but the limitations of the rapidly growing domestic hotel industry quickly became apparent to me. I therefore sought employment in a different field in which I could better utilize my skills. I began working in the Marketing Department of Makebest Textile Company, where I learned how to control costs, devise marketing strategies, and develop lasting relationships with customers. I am currently working as the Assistant Sales Manager in this company, responsible for the development of overseas customers and analyses of sales goals.

Having worked for more than three years in this company, I am confident working in a fast-paced international business environment. However, during these years I have encountered numerous obstacles and unforeseen challenges. Therefore, after careful consideration, I decided that further study in an MBA program would be not only useful, but perhaps essential in developing my career potential and providing me with greater opportunities for future success.

My career path has led me from the rapidly developing markets of my native country in Asia to the rolling hills of England and back again. Now, I feel that the next logical destination on my path is your MBA program. The curriculum of your MBA program is similar to that which I studied previously, yet it is much more challenging and will allow me to develop my abilities further. I already have a strong background in various aspects of business, from marketing and management to accounting and sales. Because of this, I feel I am uniquely qualified to attend your MBA program.

After completion of my studies, I plan to return to Makebest Textile Company and apply what I learn in your program to the benefit of the company. Within five years after graduating, I expect to have developed a successful career that I can be proud of. I believe that my past shows a steady yet rapid progression through the business world, and I am eager to continue that progression by enrolling in your MBA program. Thank you for your time and consideration.

,

Statement of Purpose “ Sports Management

,

I am applying to your Master of Sports Management program with the goal of building upon my previous experiences and preparing for my career. I studied Sports Medicine in the university due to my longstanding interest in sports. When doing my internship at the local YMCA, I had the chance to learn about health promotion for the elderly, and I came to see that this industry is poised for considerable growth. From this experience, I understand that the best way to keep elderly people healthy is to focus on preventing accidents or diseases. Unfortunately, there is a scarcity of professionals in this industry, and this is why I hope to acquire a more thorough understanding of sports management in your graduate program, as I hope to fill this gap and become a pioneer in this field in my native country.

My university studies give me a good foundation of knowledge on which to base more advanced studies. Through core courses I have learned a lot about sports protection, fitness and weight training, as well as taking optional courses related to sports management. Meanwhile, I was also very active in extracurricular activities in order to build a broader perspective and more practical skills. For example, I was active in the Student Union, I joined the school orchestra, and I served as a Teaching Assistant in my department as well as a leader in the departments Sports Medicine Camp. In addition, I was a member of the Sports Service Society, and I collaborated with other members to help with elderly fitness drives and sanitary education in remote areas.

As mentioned above, my career goals began to really take shape during my one-year internship as an Administrative Assistant at the YMCA. My core duties there included organizing and implementing conferences and teaching certificate lessons. I was also responsible for promoting activities, contacting students and teachers, and arranging various activities. For instance, I planned many free elderly health-related activities in cooperation with the local municipal government, including an International Elderly Day with hundreds of student volunteers and drives to measure blood pressure and encourage the elderly to be active and explore nature. In the process of working on these events, I developed my leadership and organizational skills, and I have gotten a taste of what I expect to do for my future career.

Now, I believe that I am well-prepared for the challenge of going overseas and studying Sports Management at the graduate level. I previously worked as a research assistant at Goodwell Medical Universitys Institute of Neuroscience, and I thus have experience at integrating, collecting and analyzing data, which will help with my postgraduate dissertation. I am eager to contribute my knowledge and experiences to your classes and research projects while also learning from the many talented students and professors in the program. After completing my studies, I hope to gain a place in a governmental sports institute in my native country, where I aspire to raise awareness about the benefits of sports for people of all ages, and especially the elderly.

My ultimate goal is to combine sports with elderly fitness promotion in order to essentially make a new industry. I want to build elderly communities and set up service stations for the elderly to help them have care service even in their own homes and organize activities periodically to replace the present elderly care centers. That way, the elderly can maintain their relationship networks through exercise. Accomplishing these goals will require advanced management abilities, and I thus find your masters program an ideal setting for my further studies.

[SAMPLE SOP] Sample Statement of Purpose (SOP): Marketing (2)

This sample SOP is for applying to a masters program in Marketing in the UK.

Ever since my childhood, I have been independent and adventurous, and this has led me to seek new experiences and pursue my goals with passion. I worked in several part-time jobs while in the university, and after graduation, I began working in more professional, full-time roles. However, I have also realized that, given the intensely competitive nature of the workforce at present, an undergraduate degree alone is insufficient for meeting my goals and developing a challenging and dynamic future career. I am eager to see the world, meet new people, and discover new ways of thinking, and I have thus decided to pursue my masters degree in the UK in order to enrich myself with professional expertise in a multicultural environment.

My father runs a small business, which he inherited from his father. What began as a small factory has gradually developed and expanded through the years. However, with the unique challenges and ever-evolving nature of the modern business world, it has become more difficult for small businesses such this to compete. Rising costs and lower profits in recent years have threatened the vitality of this company, and if this continues, the business will be unable to continue operations. This has been the main factor in my decision to pursue studies of marketing, which will provide me with the skills necessary to help the business expand, thrive, and remain viable in the future.

I studied Engineering in the university, which allowed me to develop strong logical thinking and analytical capabilities. I expect that these qualities will prove immensely useful when engaged in business-related activities, such as analyzing financial statements, developing strategies, and solving problems. While in the university, I participated in various activities in my department, such as orientation, camping activities, and the graduation party, through which I met many people and developed my communication and interpersonal skills. These experiences taught me the importance of meeting new people, trying new things, and taking part in activities.

Due to my natural interest in marketing, I began working in the marketing department of Goodwell Technology Co., Ltd. after graduation. I was in charge of marketing and sales, and this was my first opportunity working in an actual, international marketing situation. During this time, I collaborated with my supervisors and colleagues to develop strategies to promote Goodwells products and services. The company, which exports digital imaging products, is quite young. As a result, it was a lively setting in which to work and present new ideas. I learned a lot from my colleagues, and most importantly, I learned the practical nature of what it takes to market products abroad in a fiercely competitive environment.

My work at Goodwell convinced me that, through effective marketing, my fathers company can expand to international markets, compete effectively, and prosper for many more decades. I have learned that any single product can be either successful or unsuccessful based on the marketing strategy. However, such success depends on a marketing professional with international experience, and this is the role I expect to play in my future career.

I have chosen to apply to your schools masters program, specifically, for various reasons. The modern business world demands professionals with an understanding of different cultures, languages, and attitudes. In my view, pursuing a masters degree in your school is the ideal way to broaden my horizons. I am eager to enter your institution and take advantage of the extensive resources, learn from the renowned professors, and work alongside people from different countries and backgrounds. I feel confident that my past education and work experience has prepared me for the demands and challenges that I will inevitably face, and I am eager to begin studying in your institution so that I may prove myself.
